The Schultz Group is one of Denmark’s largest printing companies. Furthermore, they have subsidiaries in IT and Electronic Information Management. In 1998 they started a new subsidiary called Schultz Interactive Information which sells an electronic regulatory database to the pharmaceutical industry. The database is based on XML and contains all the legislation from EU and the US on Human Drugs.

Marketing coordinator

  • My responsibilities have been the following:
    Creating marketing material such as brochures, fact sheets, manuals and an in-house newsletter for a consultant network.
  • Writing and coordinating press releases.
  • Coordinating and writing contents for the company website.
  • Planning and implementing a restructure of an online news service including coordination with web design bureau.
  • Coordinating an online news and ordering service including subscribers, backend system and password administration.
  • Implementing and executing segmented e-mail campaigns for different groups of customers.
  • Building a customer database with the Goldmine CRM software. I coordinated the implementation of the system and today the system contains more than 4000 customer and prospect records. During this time Goldmine has turned into an invaluable sale and marketing tool – today we run several e-mail campaigns for different customer segments within the database. Furthermore, the database has become a great tool for competitor analysis.

I started in March 2000 in a 12-month temporary employment as marketing assistant in the marketing department after my return from Australia. My tasks were the following:

  • Coordinating TV campaigns.
  • Coordinating cross-selling and up-selling activities (direct mails).

1996–2000 Oticon Australia - Sydney, Australia Oticon is a worldwide hearing aid manufacturer with headquarters in Copenhagen. In the Australian subsidiary they sell hearing aids to individual hearing aid clinics as well as their own chain of hearing aid clinics consisting of 20 outlets throughout the country.

Assistant Marketing Manager
Started off doing my thesis for them as a part my international business course. The thesis was on their service-level to hearing aid dispensers. After my course ended, I started full-time employment with them. Tasks of the job:

  • Letters and mailouts from start to finish for both wholesale and retail. Retail starting with list generation in Navision Financials to liaison with Mailing House before the letters were actually posted.
  • Daily contact with wholesale customers over the telephone as well as written correspondence in regards to price establishment and prices, advertising (radio, TV, brochures, direct mail etc.), point-of-sale material, new product information, distribution of OtiSet (hearing instrument fitting software program) and updates with audiological information.
  • Daily contact with advertising agency.
  • Management of the alliance program - Oticon Business Alliance (An alliance for Oticon’s largest wholesale customers).
  • Assist with budgeting for the marketing department (the budget for 1999 was AU$1.2 Mio for the marketing department).
  • Supervise follow-ups of marketing activities, trouble-shooting and monitor results.
  • Set-up of the local homepages both for wholesale and retail.
  • Assist in the development of Oticon Australia’s Web strategies.
  • Logistics for the conventions they attend, and the marketing seminars they put together for the customers.
  • Newsletters externally and internally.
  • Customer support with advertising in newspapers, magazines and Yellow Pages.
  • Customer support with radio and TV commercials. Being involved from shoot until the finished product.
